Great article! Robin DiAngelo's book has come under criticism for missing the mark on a lot of things. The diversity and complexities of the Asian diaspora are ignored in Hollywood because they have not felt the incentive to put in the work to understand it (or play to it in satire) and are slow to hire Asian writers/creators. Now that it is "financially" beneficial, it's at that stage where background characters (specifically in authority positions like cops that have few lines) are going to continue to be a thing.
