Great review/rant :) I think the plot was meh to some people because it was a low stakes conflict vs. Disney's past battle with good vs. evil characters. This era of Disney seems to be focusing more in the grey space with abstract conflicts like "trust" and "pressure." Which probably hit home for a lot of people but you can have that along with an ACTUAL, I wish harm on your family and town, villain.

I actually disagree on the characters being good. I think all except Mirabel and Abuella Alma are underdeveloped. They relied too much on the songs to provide development so you have some for Luisa during her song but then she barely speaks again. Antonio is really there to show that the miracle candle meant to not give Mirabel a gift (I assume she was the youngest until Antonio). Dolores could have been much better and yeah have no idea why Camillo was even in this film (Mirabel's parent also got very little to do).

Dolores did know Bruno was in the house and she did tell Mirabel. In We Don't Talk About Bruno, she says that she hears him around the house, muttering and mumbling, grappling with prophecies "they" couldn't understand. The problem is, it is in a song and its said softly and quickly.

On a separate note, I really want to see the other "dimension rooms": what does a shape shifter room or a super hearing room look like? Is Mirabel's Mom's room just a bunch of ingredients and recipes? These are questions I need answers to.
