I guess because I related on the "science vs faith" aspect of the film I like the idea of a Black Panther who is struggling with connecting to the spiritual side which is such a big part of that hero. I've just never seen that portrayed in a superhero film.

And yes, the idea to separate the ruler/protector was a smart change.
