I liked this movie but everything you said is true. The Billy Mack storyline and Daniel and Sam storyline are enough for me to recommend this film to people who don't usually like Romantic comedies (because this is kind of like a dark comedy with how many couples don't really have a happy ending). And those two storylines are unconventional love stories between a singer and his manager and a father and a stepson.
