The response to The Last Jedi being to bring back Palpatine, make Rey a Palpatine, and significantly reduce Kelly Marie Tran's role just kind of set a bad precedent of expectations between Lucasfilm and Star Wars "fans." Out of all the Disney divisions, Star Wars seems to cave under toxic fandom pressure the most and, thus, has reaped the negative consequences of isolating both old and potentially new audiences
